Searching lateral file cabinet depth?
I wanted to find a deep filing cabinet that could hold all of my paperwork, including my tax returns and bills.
But it wasn’t easy. There are many different types of filing cabinets available, ranging from standard ones to those designed specifically for remote workers.
After measuring filing cabinets, I found that most of them didn’t fit into my home office. They either came up too short or too tall. Some even had a shelf built into them, which meant there was no room left over for anything else.
The best option I found was a deep filing cabinet. These usually come in three sizes; 19 inches, 23 inches and 27 inches high. You might think that having a deeper drawer would mean less space, but actually it makes sense because you don’t want to waste any space.
You do need to make sure that the size of your filing cabinet fits well in your home office though. For example, if you live in a small apartment, you probably won’t be able to use a large filing cabinet.
The typical office vertical file cabinet is 28½ inches deep and the drawer holds 27 inches of files.
